Our Executive Team
Fatmire Feka
Fatmire is a Muslim Albanian from the ethnically divided municipality of Mitrovica, Kosovo where she was the initiator and the driving force of a very successful children's peace movement. Through this effort, Fatmire was selected as an "Angel of Hope" by World Vision Canada. She was chosen because she "brought hope to others and made a difference in her community".
In the summer of 2003, Fatmire was invited to join the city of Mitrovica's Council for Peace & Tolerance. The Council for Peace & Tolerance is a local non-governmental organization committed to laying down all ethnic, religious or gender based prejudice as they strive to promote mutual understanding by implementing a variety of community-based projects.
Over the past few years, Fatmire's numerous interviews with electronic and print media from around the world, as well as local media, have highlighted her advocacy efforts as she constantly strives to tell everyone about the plight of youth and children in war-torn countries.
In May 2004, Fatmire was invited as a youth delegate to speak during a session of the Global Movement for Children conference at the Universal Forum of Cultures in Barcelona, Spain.
In July 2004, Fatmire was nominated as a member of the "1000 Women of the Nobel Peace Prize" (www.1000peacewomen.org) and her accomplishments were published in a recent book.
Today, Fatmire continues to be an active advocate for the families that are still trying to find out the fate of their missing loved ones since the war of 1999 in Kosovo. She is also an active international advocate for children and youth who are caught in conflict zones around the world.
